The charity for children in care and young care leavers

October 13, 2017

This year, Become is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s largest online match funding campaign. From midday on Tuesday 28 November (#GivingTuesday) until midday on Tuesday 5 December, donations to support our work with children in care and young care leavers will be doubled.

Care is a confusing place to be. Every year, hundreds of children and young people in care and young care leavers contact our Care Advice Line, Become’s free support service. We provide guidance, advice and information about anything to do with life in or after care – whether it’s understanding how the care system works, information on housing and accommodation, dealing with money worries, accessing education and training or planning for the future.

After speaking to our Advice Worker, one young person said: “You really helped me find out a lot of information I wasn’t aware of. Genuinely, in the ten minute call, I had more help than in the last 18 months.”

At Become, we believe there is a world of potential in every young person. We believe that someone’s past does not define their future. We believe it’s possible for everyone to make positive changes in their lives. We believe it’s possible for everyone to become the person they want to be.

If you work with care-experienced young people, we’re sure you feel the same way. If you know a young person who needs help to bring about positive change in their life, consider referring them to the Become Coaching Programme.
