Learn more about the work of a whole host of areas connected to working with young people in Swindon

July 26, 2016

Many young people are keen to learn more about the work of the Youth Offending Team, Youth Counselling service, Substance Misuse service, the Police, Social Services and Probation, and a host of other areas connected to working with young people in Swindon.

“I thought I would take one last opportunity to thank you for last week. It was really enjoyable and it was interesting to see the level of support that is available for young people that were not as fortunate in their upbringing as I was. I would also like to thank the rest of the team for being so welcoming and accommodating throughout the week, with special mentions to Julie and Jill for explaining the format of the Youth Court on Tuesday, as they ensured that I got the most out of the experience. Kind Regards”- Ben (student) July 2016

We try and help as many young people as possible see how the teams work from the inside. Sometimes this can be over a whole week, or just a few days. We usually have one person for longer, such as Rosie, a student in Psychology who is joining us from January to August 2017.

If you would like to find out more about your chances of joining the Team for a short (day), week, or longer placement from School or College, please use the I want advise form to contact us.

· Your name, age and address
· Your school or college and what subjects you are learning
· The possible dates you are interested in
· Why you would want to come along, and what you hope to get out of it.

We will contact you and discuss it. We may ask you to fill in a form, and to come along and meet us face to face. If you are successful, we may also ask you to complete a criminal record check, and we will contact your school or college for a reference. In some situations we might also allow several students at one time, although this would be for a day.

Good luck with your application!
