Supporting children and young people, aged 10-17, and their families to be and feel safe in Swindon.

The children and young people that the YJS work with are referred to us by the courts or other criminal justice agencies such as the police. Our aim is to help children and young people to tackle issues that might lead them to offending behaviour and support them to take positive steps towards their future.

About Us

Swindon YJS is made up of lots of other representatives, such as the police, children’s services, health services, probation, education, voluntary and private services, as well as children and young people themselves and the Swindon Community. We all work in partnership together to support and encourage children to engage with Activities, Interactions and Roles that will support children and young people to develop a positive sense of identity (who you are, your values and what makes you, you).

  • Help children, young people and their families at court.
  • Create plans of support and identify goals for children, young people and their families who are serving community sentences.
  • Support and visit children and young people if they are sentenced to custody and help them when they are released back into the community.
  • Run a number group work programmes, events and offer voluntary support for children and young people through our Turnaround programme.
  • Make sure that children and young people are heard, represented and involved in everything we do.
  • Support and work with children, young people and the community who may have been harmed by offending behaviour.
